FIFA to discuss bidding process for competitions

Football's controlling body FIFA said that its executive committee would meet next week to discuss, amongst other things, the bidding process for football competitions.

In a statement FIFA said that the agenda for the executive committee featured several topics, including the bidding process and the international match calendar for 2008-2014.

"Following inspections in September and October and the recent local organising committee board meeting on Oct 3, the FIFA executive will be given updates on the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the current status of preparations for FIFA's flagship competition as well as that of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009," FIFA said.

"In the area of competitions, there will be reports on the Olympic Football Tournaments in Beijing, the Beach Soccer World Cup in Marseille and the Futsal World Cup in Brazil."

FIFA said that they would also discuss a number of legal and sports political matters, including a review of the current situation of the Polish FA (PZPN).

FIFA had earlier threatened the PZPN with suspension unless a state-appointed temporary administrator be withdrawn. They had subsequently reached an agreement with Polish football officials, but said the situation would be reviewed later.
