The International Cricket Council says it is a right decision

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday said the postponement of the One day series and the Champions League was the right decision but hoped cricket will be back in India soon.

“The two Boards — Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England Cricket Board (ECB) — have taken the right decision to postpone the ODI series and also the Champions League. At this stage we cannot do anything. But I hope, cricket will be back in India soon,” Haroon Lorgat, the CEO of the world governing body of the game, told DNA.

Lorgat was to be in Mumbai on Friday for an important Future Tours Programme (FTP) meeting with the officials of the BCCI. He was, in fact, to stay at the Taj Hotel, the epicentre of the Mumbai terror. “Yes, I would have stayed in the Taj. But I’ve cancelled the visit. This is not right time for any such discussion. I will talk to N Srinivasan (BCCI secretary) and fix a new date for the meeting.”

The ICC and the BCCI were to discuss the FTP at the meeting during which some discussion on India’s troubled tour of Pakistan next year would have cropped up. At this stage, of course, that is not in picture.
