Sachin Tendulkar rested for one-dayers
India batsman Sachin Tendulkar will be rested for the first three one-day internationals of the forthcoming seven-match series against England.
"Considering the hectic schedule ahead and the amount he has played this season, Tendulkar requested that he be rested," said the Indian cricket board.
Tamil Nadu opening batsman Murali Vijay is the only newcomer in a 15-man squad captained by Mahendra Dhoni.
The first match of the series will take place in Rajkot on 14 November.
Tendulkar, now 35, first played for the India senior team in 1989 and has appeared in a staggering 417 one-day internationals.
In the Test series with Australia, which ends on Monday, he eclipsed Brian Lara's record to become the highest Test run-scorer.
That achievement adds to his record as leading one-day international run-scorer, and he has 16,361 runs to his name in the limited overs arena, including 42 centuries.
He has not played in the one-day side side since the away series against Australia in March.
A groin injury ruled him out of series in Bangladesh and Pakistan earlier in the year, and he suffered an elbow problem during the Test campaign against Sri Lanka in August, which sidelined him for the one-day matches.
