Shane Williams gets Barbarians call-up

Shane Williams has been named in the star-studded Barbarians squad for next month's London Olympic Centenary match against Australia at Wembley.

The Ospreys and Wales wing, 31, is among a 22-man squad to be coached by 2007 World Cup winner Jake White.

Williams and Frenchman Francois Trinh-Duc are the Baa-Baas' latest additions for the 3 December fixture.

South Africa's Bryan Habana, together with All Blacks Joe Rokocoko and Rico Gear, are other wingers in the squad.

Williams has enjoyed an outstanding year for both club and country.

He broke the Wales try-scoring record - he now has 43 from his 55 Tests - as his six tries inspired Wales to their second Grand Slam success in four years.

Williams was also part of the Ospreys side who lifted the EDF Energy Cup last season.

He is also a leading contender to land the International Rugby Board's prestigious Player of the Year award on 23 November.

The Baa-Baas squad also includes England captain Steve Borthwick.

Barbarians committee member and former England prop Mike Burton said: "Assembling such a star-studded squad from several countries would not have been possible without the approval and co-operation of national unions and individual provinces and clubs.

"We are grateful for the support we continue to receive.

"Many people in many different capacities recognise the role of the Barbarians in such high-profile fixtures, and their encouragement is a huge boost to all of us who are involved.

"It promises to be a great occasion in every respect."
