Simple DNA swab can reveal child's future success in sports

A Colorado company is claiming a simple test can determine how good a child will be at sports.

Atlas Sports Genetics has come forward saying it can tell parents if their child will be suited for endurance sports such as running or sports demanding power and speed like football by testing their DNA.

The test works by testing for a gene variant that's been found in elite athletes.

Under the bright lights in Lynn where Everett took on BC High Tuesday night, one teacher, parent and former coach said it's just another product designed to satisfy competitive parents.

Parent Anthony Jackson raises the point, just because you excel at something, doesn't mean you have to like it. So as a parent, he is in no rush to push.

"Raise kids as they are," Jackson said. "Do the best they can."
