American Coughlin wins Women's 100m Backstroke gold
Natalie Coughlin celebrates
The Women's 100m Backstroke final was held at the National Aquatics Center on day four of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on August 12, 2008 in Beijing, China. Natalie Coughlin of the United States took gold in the event with a time of 58.96, beating world record holder Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe (59.19) and compatriot Margaret Hoelzer (59.34), who came in second and third place.
