Bulls hammer Blues in far north
Queensland thrashed New South Wales by 151 runs in their domestic one-day clash in Cairns on Saturday, earning two bonus points from the comprehensive victory.
The Blues were dismissed for a paltry 136 in the 40th over of their pursuit of the winning target of 288 runs.
Earlier Queensland compiled a generous 6 for 287 from its 50-over allotment with Lee Carseldine and Andrew Symonds driving the run frenzy.
Carseldine top-scored with a swashbuckling 126 while Symonds added 73.
Aaron Bird made the biggest impact in the NSW attack, finishing with 3 for 48 from 10 overs.
The visitors' chase was thwarted by chief destroyer Ben Laughlin, who tore through the Blues' line-up in a seven-over spell that returned six scalps for 23 runs.
Peter Forrest (41) and Grant Lambert (25 not out) offered respectable contributions for the battered Blues.
