Frank Hadden upset at Scots' surrender

Scotland coach Frank Hadden admitted his disappointment at letting a lead slip as South Africa came from 10-0 down to win 14-10 at Murrayfield.

The Scots' loss came a week after they missed several chances to score tries in the 32-6 defeat by New Zealand.

"That was even more frustrating than last week," said Hadden.

"We will never have a better chance to beat the world champions than we did today. Everyone is gutted. They knew the game was there for the taking."

South Africa trailed 10-0 at half-time with Nathan Hines crossing the line for the home side.

But Jaque Fourie's try and three penalties by Ruan Pienaar transformed the match after the interval.

"We were in the position we wanted to be at half-time and we just didn't close it out,"added Hadden.

"Our discipline let us down just after half-time and our concentration let us down in the last 10 minutes.

"If we had kept our concentration and made good decisions in the last 10 minutes it would have been a different story.

"At the moment we can't see many positives because we thought we did enough to win the game.

"People will not really sit up and take notice until we actually win matches."

South Africa head coach Peter de Villiers praised the character of his side.

"You can easily slip up on this one but we stuck to our guns," said De Villiers.

"They came at us as and they have the ability to keep the ball in hand. They gave us a run for our money today but we are very happy at this moment.

"We now have a big one against England next week and we are looking forward to it."
