Rain stopped play for a second time in the fourth one-day international on Sunday after India had reached 106 for one from 17 overs against England.
Aggressive opener Virender Sehwag was 61 not out, his second successive fifty, and Gautam Gambhir was on 30 after Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed by paceman Stuart Broad for 11.
Rain first stopped play after the hosts, put in to bat, reached 82 for one from 14 overs.
The match was reduced to 44 overs per side after it was decided to cut the break between innings to 10 minutes and extend play by an hour in the day-night match.
England are looking to turn around their poor run after losing the first three games in the seven-match series.
