Venus Williams eases through at Wimbledon

Venus Williams crushed Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3 6-1 on Monday to reach the second round at Wimbledon.

The American five-times champion, seeded 23rd after slipping down the rankings due to injury problems, overpowered her opponent from Uzbekistan with a clinical performance.

The 31-year-old Williams, who last won Wimbledon in 2008, will next play Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm.
