Ilya Ilin Won Gold : Weightlifting 94 kg

Ilya Ilin of Kazakhstan won the Men's Weightlifting 94 kilogram final on Sunday, August 17 with a total weight of 406kg.

Nizami Pashayev of Azerbaijan lifted 181kg in the Snatch, followed by Asghar Ebrahimi of Iran and Ilin who tied at 180kg. Szymon Kołecki of Poland lifted 179kg.

In the Clean and Jerk, Ilin lifted 226kg and locked first place. Kołecki lifted 224kg and took the silver medal with a total weight of 403kg. Arsen Kasabiev of Georgia grabbed the bronze medal with a total weight of 399kg.

Ilin not only pocketed Kazakhstan's first gold medal in Beijing, but also his country's first ever Olympic Weightlifting gold medal.

Pak Hyon-suk : Women's Weightlifting 63kg Gold

The Women's Weightlifting 63kg final was held at the Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics Gymnasium on day four of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games . Pak Hyon-suk of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) won the gold medal in this event with a total of 241 kilos. Irina Nekrassova from Kazakhstan took the silver with a total result of 240kg, while Lu Ying-chi from Chinese Taipei got the bronze with 231kg.

Men's 62kg Weightlift Gold : China's Zhang Xiangxiang

Chinese Zhang Xiangxiang totaled 319 kilograms to win the Men's 62kg class Weightlifting gold medal at the Olympic Games here on Monday.

Colombia's Diego Salazar took silver with 305kg and Triyatno got bronze with 298kg.

Liu Chunhong defends Gold, Breaks World Record

Defending champion Liu Chunhong of China triumphed again in the Women's 69 kilogram Weightlifting final on Wednesday, August 13, after lifting 286kg in total weight.

In the Snatch, Liu was the last to step onto the floor and broke the world record with her second attempt of 125kg. She then went on to break her own record by lifting 128kg. Natalya Davydova of Ukraine and Oxana Slivenko of Russia both lifted 115kg.

During the Clean and Jerk, Liu set a new world record for total weight by lifting 149kg with her second attempt, but quickly broke it again with a successful last attempt of 158kg, which is also the new world record for the Clean and Jerk.

Slivenko lifted 140kg in the Clean and Jerk and placed second with a total weight of 255kg. Davydova ranked third with a total weight of 250kg.
