Ana Ivanovic secures title in Austria

Ana Ivanovic brought an end to a run of injuries and poor form with victory at the Linz Open in Austria.

The top seed swept past second seed Vera Zvonareva 6-2 6-1 in Sunday's final for her third title of 2008.

The Serbian, 20, injured her thumb in August and had not reached a final since winning the French Open in June.

Both Ivanovic and Zvonareva have secured qualification for the season-ending WTA Championships, which begin in Doha on 4 November.

"It's great to be in the final and win again," said Ivanovic.

"I'm very, very happy. I've started to feel my game again and I've been playing better and better each match.

"Before, I was too stressed about injury and wanted to win so much, but now I've started to enjoy playing and competing again."

Zvonareva lost the first eight points and was then broken a second time to fall 3-0 behind, before briefly threatening to stage a comeback with a break of her own.

However, the Russian double faulted three times in the next game as Ivanovic broke again to lead 4-1 and went on to take the set.

A fifth double fault allowed Ivanovic to break to love at the start of the second and Zvonareva never looked like recovering.

"She played very good and I probably paid the price today for playing seven weeks in row," said Zvonareva.

"I made my choice after the US Open to play every week because there were a lot of girls who wanted to get into the Championships and at the end of the day I got to where I wanted to be."

Russia's Elena Dementieva boosted her confidence ahead of the WTA Championships by fending off the challenge of Caroline Wozniacki to win the Luxembourg indoor title.

The fifth seed overcame her Danish opponent 2-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4) after a three-hour contest during which Wozniacki served for the match at 5-4 in the deciding set.
